Skillings Crushing Company Limited provides high quality, cost effective crushing services across the UK. Working with developers, demolition contractors, and remediation specialists, the team supports large scale projects that often involve
transforming brownfield sites into usable land.
On large demolition sites, particularly those involving reinforced concrete structures like power stations, separating materials efficiently is critical. Concrete must be reduced to a reusable size, while steel reinforcement needs to be cleanly extracted for recycling. Traditional methods can be time consuming, require multiple attachments, and increase handling time on site. For contractors, this leads to higher fuel use, more machine hours, and slower turnaround.

The Solution To tackle this, Skillings Crushing became the first company in the UK to run the Rotar RDP50 demolition pulveriser.
The RDP50 has been developed based on the proven tooth design of the larger RDP70, adapted to meet the specific requirements of UK operators. By incorporating the feedback from
Dave Skillings into the design, the unit has been built to deliver increased power and performance compared to previous models such as the RDP42
and RDP45.
Mounted on a Liebherr R956 and fitted with an integrated OilQuick OQ90 system, the attachment brings power, precision, and flexibility to the demolition process.
Designed specifically for secondary demolition, the RDP50 allows operators to crush concrete and separate rebar in a single, efficient operation.
The Application
The attachment was put to work on the demolition of Skelton Grange Power Station, a project involving heavy reinforced concrete
structures. Operated by Craig Payton, the setup demonstrates exactly what the RDP50 is built for. In the footage, the pulveriser easily processes large concrete culverts, breaking them down while cleanly extracting the embedded rebar. This reduces the need for additional handling and keeps the workflow moving efficiently. This reduces the need for additional handling and

By processing materials directly on site, Skillings can create reusable aggregate for applications such as road construction, capping, and drainage, cutting both cost and environmental impact.
Craig Payton, operator of the Liebherr R956, has already seen the benefits of the upgrade:
The new tooth profile makes a big difference. It grabs and bails up the rebar much more easily, which speeds everything up on site.
He also noted a clear increase in performance compared to previous models:
It’s definitely got more power than the RDP42. You can feel the difference when you’re working through heavy concrete.
The addition of the integrated OilQuick OQ90 quick hitch system takes productivity even further. Operators can switch between attachments quickly and safely from the cab, reducing downtime and allowing the machine to adapt instantly to different stages of the job.
This flexibility is especially valuable on complex demolition sites, where multiple tools are often required throughout the day.

This project marks an important step for demolition attachments in the UK.
Being the first to run the Rotar RDP50 in the UK, Skillings Crushing has demonstrated how the right equipment can improve efficiency, reduce waste, and streamline operations on site.
