RP Jones Groundworks delivers a wide range of groundwork and construction services both locally and nationwide, with a strong focus on caravan park maintenance, redevelopment, and construction.
Led by Rhodri Jones, the family-run business built its reputation working with local caravan park owners before expanding its high-quality services across the UK
Rhodri’s fleet of excavators spans JCB, Kubota, and Wacker Neuson, ranging from 1.7 to 13 tonnes. Most of the work is in restricted areas, so smaller machines provide the flexibility needed for residential and caravan park projects.
“Most of our work is on a caravan park or residential, both of which don’t give us masses of room in which to operate. The smaller excavators provide us with exactly what we need most of the time. For any larger jobs, we’ll hire in as required.”
“Worsley are a little out of our area, but we feel we get the service and back up from them which makes it worthwhile to travel a little further.”

Five Years of Crushing Performance
For over five years, RP Jones has relied on the MB C50 crusher bucket, proving to be an invaluable tool and excellent value for money.
On caravan park redevelopments, tipping costs for removing concrete bases and importing fresh stone can reach £50 per tonne. By using the MB-C50 to crush material on site and reuse it for new plots, the team significantly reduces both time and cost.
A typical caravan base weighs around 8–10 tonnes, creating a saving of £400–£500 per base. Across a redevelopment of 20 bases, that quickly adds up to £8,000–£10,000 saved in disposal and aggregate
costs alone. The bucket pays for itself in no time.
Using the crusher bucket to process each existing base and line the new bases with the crushed material saves us both time and money and means we crush exactly what we need for each base.
The MB-C50 weighs 750kg and fits perfectly on the JCB 85 Z-1, while also compatible with the 6.5- tonne Wacker Neuson. Its jaw opening of 540mm x 250mm and low-maintenance design allow quick and effective crushing of concrete, even tough blue granite.
Even the blue granite we are excavating at home for a new barn won’t stop it crushing.
Rhodri recently added the MB S-10 rotary screening bucket to his fleet. The S-10 allows on-site screening of excavated material, producing clean drainage stone or smaller fill material
We regularly encounter material which when screened, can give us good, recyclable material we can use on site. Purchasing the screening bucket made sense to us straight away.
The MB S-10 weighs under 400kg and mounts on both the 8.5-tonne JCB and 6.5-tonne Wacker Neuson. Its circular mesh can be swapped in 30–40 minutes, giving a multi-purpose screening solution. Working from a stockpile, it produces around 20 tonnes per hour, quickly supplying ready-to-use stone.
Both attachments allow RP Jones to handle small volume projects efficiently, giving the team
flexibility for on-site processing.
We know that both the crusher bucket and screening bucket are not going to match traditional
self-propelled models for productivity. But for us, producing and processing small volumes of material
at a time, they are an invaluable part of our business and have added huge flexibility to our day-to-day operations.

Rhodri also uses a Montabert breaker and frequently hires additional units from Worsley Plant, ensuring
support whenever needed.
They are first class when it comes to service. Nothing is a problem for them and we are more than happy to purchase or hire from them again.
