Two Lehnhoff Quickcouplers are now installed on their two 20 ton Caterpillar machines, which the company are using to make quick and effortless changes between their range of rotating grabs, shears, pulverisers, buckets, magnets and breakers. This is allowing them to make the change to the right tool within just 15 seconds.
Weaver Demolition approached Worsley Plant as they already had some Rotar attachments from them, and were impressed with the good service and back up the company provided them. They did some research on other quickcoupler systems on the market but preferred the Lehnhoff due to its quality production and functionality.
Established in 1968 Weaver Demolition offer services throughout the South West including demolition, dismantling, soft strip, asbestos removal, crushing, screening and waste management. Their client base includes established contractors within the construction, industrial and petrochemical industries, as well as providing demolition services to local councils, NHS Trusts, architects, consultants and private clients.
A recent project where the system proved productive was at Musgrove Park Hospital where Weaver Demolition were tasked with redeveloping a site by demolishing wards from the old hospital building ready for a new structure. Jonny Weaver said: “We previously had one machine with one attachment. Without Lehnhoff we’d need two machines on this job as to changeover between tools is too time consuming. We are now able to changeover in just 15 seconds where previously this was taking us over 15 minutes. We can now ensure we are always using the right tool for the right job. We can use the shear and then when the truck arrives change over to the grab to load the waste.”
Weaver are also enjoying further benefits of a fully automatic quickcoupler system such as reduced fuel, labour and plant costs, as well as less wear and tear on the attachments and the machines. The other big saving is on hose repairs. No more broken pipes means no time lost on site.
Another key benefit for Weaver is a happy driver. The operator no longer needs to get out and switch over between attachments. He can now stay in his cab and change over tools in comfort and safety. Great in bad weather too!
